A conference (Combating violence against women) was organized by the Afghan Refugee Solidarity and Association (ARSA) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) within the framework of the 16-Day activism campaign.
In the occasion of December 5th #WorldVolunteersDay and #WorldWomen'sRightsDay, Dr. Zakira Hekmat President of ARSA organization, in her opening speech talked about the importance of activities to combat violence against women and raise awareness.
Since 2009, ARSA has been acting as a bridge between refugees and actors with its voluntary activities in different provinces of Turkey.
“We are constantly striving to build awareness and culture, a key element of our compliance program,” she said.
Mrs. Farahmand made the definition of the association. Then Atty. Zehra Çomuk Soylu gave detailed information about the definition of gender-based violence, types of violence, and protection measures against violence.
The conference ended with the slogan "No to violence against women" and a painting event.
