In a significant development, the Afghan Refugees Solidarity Association (ARSA) participated in a pivotal meeting in Berlin from February 21-23, 2024, organized by the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience (ICSC) and the Afghanistan Human Rights and Democracy Organization (AHRDO). The event, titled "In Their Own Voice: Centering Forcibly Displaced Communities in Advocacy Efforts," convened 20 Afghan Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the diaspora and global CSOs dedicated to human rights and forced displacement.

ARSA, represented by its director, Dr. Zakira Hekmat, played a key role in discussions aimed at ensuring the meaningful and equitable involvement of forcibly displaced individuals in advocacy efforts. The meeting focused on enhancing capacities for effective strategies, fostering collaboration among communities, and addressing the documentation gaps associated with forced displacement globally. This collaboration is part of the broader project, "Afghanistan: Advancing Rights Adopting an Inclusive and Victim-Centered Documentation and Memorialization Approach," which seeks to shift social perceptions and policies to advance truth, justice, and accountability for forcibly displaced people.

The participation of ARSA underscores the importance of a united global front in addressing the challenges faced by forcibly displaced communities. As a result, the coalition anticipates significant progress in creating a more impactful and comprehensive advocacy approach.
