The Refugee Council of Türkiye (TMK) convened its members in Ankara on March 13 to assess recent developments, review ongoing initiatives, and set strategic goals for the future. The meeting began with an opening speech by Zakira Hekmat, President of the Refugee Council of Türkiye and also President of ARSA Association.

In her speech, Zakira Hekmat emphasized that ensuring a dignified life for refugees is a shared responsibility. She highlighted the importance of contributing to the formation of refugee policies in light of recent developments and stated that the Refugee Council of Türkiye would take stronger steps in solidarity and work towards more effective solutions together.

During the meeting, the current activities of the Refugee Council of Türkiye were discussed, and members had the opportunity to share their own initiatives. Additionally, the latest developments in Syria were evaluated, and the council’s stance on the matter was determined. In a brainstorming session on the future of the council, participants engaged in discussions about joint efforts and strategic objectives. The meeting also addressed the responsibilities undertaken by the Refugee Council of Türkiye, existing challenges, and future plans. Participants exchanged views on conducting more effective work on refugee policies and strengthening cooperation.
