The Asylum Seekers and Refugees Solidarity Association (ARSA) was represented at the Refugee Forum, held on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), as part of the Global Refugee Forum (GRF).
ARSA’s Director, Dr. Zakira Hekmat, participated in this high-level international platform, which brought together refugees, civil society organizations, governments, and international stakeholders from around the world. The Forum provided a powerful space for dialogue, shared responsibility, and the development of sustainable solutions, amplifying the voices of refugees and civil society at the global level.
On the second day of the conference, Dr. Zakira Hekmat served as a panelist in the “Jordan Mission” session, focusing on women’s right to health. During the panel, she shared practical field-based experiences, highlighted key challenges faced by refugee women in accessing healthcare services, and presented context-specific solutions and recommendations aimed at improving equitable and sustainable health access for women in displacement settings.
In addition, Dr. Hekmat participated in a special program organized by UNHCR in the framework of the Nansen Refugee Award, which recognizes individuals and organizations making outstanding contributions to the protection and well-being of refugees. The program aimed to promote inspirational initiatives and strengthen global solidarity for refugee protection.
Through its participation in the Global Refugee Forum, ARSA reaffirmed its strong commitment to defending refugee rights, dignity, and access to essential services, with particular emphasis on women and other vulnerable groups. ARSA continues to advocate for inclusive, rights-based, and sustainable approaches that contribute to a more just future for refugees worldwide.
