As the Afghanistan Women Rights Watch (AWRW), we met with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, in Ankara to draw attention to the ongoing human rights violations in Afghanistan and to assess the current situation on the ground.
During the meeting, we discussed the severe human rights violations Afghan women are facing under Taliban rule, including restrictions on their fundamental freedoms, access to education and employment, and the broader repression of women in public life. AWRW shared field data and testimonies with Mr. Bennett and emphasized the urgent need for stronger and more decisive international action to address this crisis.
This meeting reflects AWRW's ongoing commitment to advocacy efforts at both national and international levels.
