Founder and President of Afghan Refugees Solidarity Association, Md. Zakira Hekmat, was invited to the panel discussion called 'A Conversation with the International Women of Courage', in collaboration with the United States Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program Team and George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs on 10th of March. The opening speech of the panel was made by Director of the Gender Equality Initiative in International Affairs and Associate Professor of Practice in International Affairs International, Dr. Shirley Graham. Women of Courage Award awardee Md. Zakira Hekmat talked about the difficulties women and young girls in Afghanistan experienced when they returned to Taliban rule, her own story and the gender equality work of her for women's rights.
