Dr. Zakira Hekmat, Founder and President of Asylum Seekers and Refugees Solidarity Association (ARSA), was re-elected to the Board and director of the Refugee Council of Türkiye (TMK)  during the General Assembly and Board elections held in Ankara on June 17, 2025.

MD. Hekmat played an active role in the establishment of the Refugee Council of Türkiye in 2016, which was founded through the joint efforts of 20 organizations working in the refugee field. After two terms of valuable contribution during the leadership of Metin Çorabatır, Dr. Hekmat will continue to serve on the Board  and director for a second time and actively contribute to the Council’s work.

Through the projects implemented at ARSA, MD. Hekmat continues to work actively in the fields of refugee rights, protection, education, and community participation. She reaffirmed her commitment to amplifying the voices of refugee communities, fostering effective dialogue with policymakers, and developing sustainable solutions under the umbrella of the Refugee Council of Türkiye.
