Afghan Refugees Solidarity Association (ARSA) organized a Nature Walk and Environmental Cleaning event in cooperation with Kayseri Melikgazi Municipality on 20 June World Refugee Day.
The event is part of the “Community-Based Local Initiatives Project (CLIP 2)” funded by the joint fund of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union's Humanitarian Aid Agency (ECHO) and carried out by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ). It was carried out as part of the “Harmony Movement” project.
Local people and different refugee communities participated in the event, where information was given on recycling and waste reduction methods at home, with the slogan "Our environment is our home." After visiting the recycling facility belonging to Melikgazi Municipality, a nature walk and harmony activity was held in Koramaz Valley. The event came to an end with the collection of waste in the park area and delivery to the municipality.
ARSA Association President Dr. Zakira Hekmat stated that it is impossible to forget the support given by the Republic of Turkey by hosting refugees in her speech during the event. Hekmat said, “We want to repay our debt of gratitude to a small extent by preserving the natural beauties of this paradise country, which is with us in every sense.”
Local people, refugees and officials including representatives of the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) attended the event.
