As the Asylum Seekers and Refugees Solidarity Association (ARSA), we conducted an institutional visit as part of our activities under the ACAR Project, “Invisible Barriers – Access to Rights for Children with Disabilities in the Context of Displacement in Türkiye.”

The visit was held with the Deputy Principal and educators of Özkar Special Education Practice School, which operates in Kayseri. During the meeting, key issues concerning the education and access to services of displaced children with disabilities were discussed.

The main topics addressed during the meeting included:

Education and Enrollment Processes and Application Criteria:
The procedures and challenges involved in integrating displaced children with disabilities into the special education system were discussed in detail, including the documents required during school enrollment, the educational assessment process conducted by RAM (Guidance and Research Center), and the criteria for admission to the school.

Current Situation of Refugee Students with Disabilities:
The current situation of refugee students with disabilities receiving education at the school was discussed, including the total number of refugee students with disabilities currently enroll
